The goal of the Bereavement Ministry is to assist those who have experienced
the death of a loved one, providing them with empathy and compassion,
helping them through the funeral and into recovery in various ways.
Major Events and Activities
The Funeral Liturgy Team assists the family in planning the funeral mass, visits the funeral home and attends the funeral mass.
Sends a sympathy card to the family.
Distributes reading materials.
Sends a handwritten note during the first anniversary of the loved one's death.
Distributes a memorial card during May.
During the Christmas Season distributes the booklet "A Holiday Survival Guide for the Bereaved" and a bookmark.
Sponsors a Mass of Remembrance in November, plan and host a reception following the mass.
Maintains the Book of Remembrance.
Facilitates a seven week support group at least twice a year and hosts periodic reunions of all those who have attended these groups.
