Welcome to Seton Parish Youth!
Seton Parish Youth is a ministry that serves EVERY child at Seton Parish from kindergarten to senior in high school. Yes, this means that whether your child attends public, private, or home school, they are a part of Seton Parish Youth! We offer opportunities for every child to participate in faith formation and events that will strengthen their relationship with Christ and help them grow within their own community at Seton Parish.
Spark: Kindergarten - 4th Grade
Spark is the faith formation program for kindergarten through 4th grade. In this ministry, we hope to spark the curiosity of our young persons and have them excited to learn about Jesus. The goal of Spark is for children to know that God created them and God loves them, our Catholic faith is full of truth and goodness, and that they belong in our Seton Parish family. Each week we will dive deeper into a Bible story, learn more about our faith, and share what we've learned with our small groups.
Spark will meet on Sunday mornings for 30 minutes between morning Masses and will also be offered prior to the 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass. Families may choose the time that best fits their schedule.
Ignite: 5th - 8th Grade
Ignite is the faith formation program for 5th through 8th grade. In this ministry, we hope to ignite a burning desire in our youth to grow a relationship with Christ. The goal of Ignite is for each young person to encounter Christ through personal relationship, works of service, and building their community at Seton Parish.
Ignite will meet on Sunday evenings from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The evening begins with dinner for all age groups, followed by breakout sessions tailored to each age level. We use the Edge program from Lifeteen.
Flame: 9th - 12th Grade
Flame is the faith formation program for 9th through 12th grade. In this ministry, we hope to fan the flame within their hearts as they continue to encounter Christ deeply and set out as disciples into the world. The goal of Flame is for our youth to deepen their relationship with Christ, strengthen their faith, and learn to evangelize for their current and future faith communities.
Flame will meet on Sunday evenings from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The evening begins with dinner for all age groups, followed by breakout sessions tailored to each age level. We use the Lifeteen program. Students who have not yet been confirmed will be in our Confirmation class this year.
Inferno Youth Group
In addition to our Sunday evening formation, we are thrilled to offer Inferno, our youth group program for grades 5–12. Inferno is all about encounter and community. These events—ranging from retreats and service trips to social justice-oriented experiences—allow our young people to meet Christ in new ways and build meaningful relationships within their faith community.
Some of the Inferno opportunities include:
Service/Social Justice: Cranks Creek Shoe Drive, Portsmouth Food Drive, Work Camp
Advocacy/Social Justice: March for Life
Community & Retreats: NCYC, Halloween Party, Spring & Summer Retreats, Cedar Point Trip
Each event will specify which age group it’s designed for, and we’ll keep you updated as new opportunities arise.
Confirmation
Bishop Earl Fernandes has announced that the age for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation will be lowered to 4th grade, beginning in fall 2025. This transition will unfold over the next four years. In response, we are transitioning our Confirmation Preparation to include both 9th and 10th grade students this year to ensure everyone currently eligible is well-prepared to receive the sacrament. We are also developing a strategic plan to align with the Bishop’s vision and will continue to keep families updated every step of the way. Stay tuned for registration details and join us as we form the next generation of saints—rooted in faith, strengthened by community, and built to last a lifetime. Check our new social media for the latest updates and opportunities.
